What a bunch of narrow minded losers live in this town. I'm not a 'local', moved here 3yrs ago, and have always found people to be nice and friendly. There it a lot more of a social life and I'm much happier.

There is a modern clubhouse that features a fantastic restaurant offering indoor & alfresco areas, all with uninterrupted views of the magnificent golf course. The region was made world-famous with the discovery of the rare and endangered Wollemi pine which dates back to the time of the dinosaurs. hahahaha - this is what people are meaning about the snobery of Mudgee. Honestly do not waste your money going here. Mudgee is way too expensive, $385/week average rental property!!! Masterplan. I think someone mentioned two bob snobs. Sadly, after being stuck here for way too long Ive come to realise that the people are simply a very low calibre. Most people highly uneducated and small minded/ignorant. In my view, the mines have change Mudgee for the worse. I didn't get any employment due company's not giving me a chance to prove myself. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. The region exudes country charm yet offers sophisticated food, wine, heritage and year-round event experiences. I miss the land and the space, but I sure don't miss the people. How lucky were we to find Mudgee. For a town of 120 residents (plus or minus 7000, according to the sign at the town entry), a disproportionate number of events are held in Birdsville each year. The other person who added a comment is obviously a local therefore not treated with rudeness and contempt by other 'locals' ie. I have made my point. Admits to the Wellington problems but comments they have moved to Mudgee and comment on how unfriendly it is. Offering the discerning traveller a chance to reset their senses, and a taste of what country living might be like, you’ll find Mudgee Region nestled in the hills. Mudgee is a great place to retire or bring up the kids.
It is called a free thinking society. We have come across a few nice people who aren't from here but the rest of them are a different breed. Watch bees hard at work and sample their delicious honey produce. Would prefer the people of Wellington any day. Now that is charming. All everyone talks about is how much money they earn at the coal mine.
BH. For the size of the town we have everthing you could want in a 5min drive. l find the people happy and friendly how lucky we are to have found it. Bit daggy there. Just getting use to what it will be like when I am dead. Mudgee is a very friendly town to tourists, WHY, because they love taking your money, friendly to your face but not behind your back. We are the perfect base to explore everything the beautiful Mudgee region and country NSW has to offer. Glad that someone else agrees with me. I now live in a town with a smaller population. Mudgee is a farming area and is well known for its wine. I'd say maybe avoid a couple of streets nearby the west end sporting complex. Seems from reading most of the reviews on here, the story that you need to "be a local or don't bother, you aren't welcome" is a myth. Funny but I recently met a girl who moved from Sydney and I thought she'll be fine and make lots of friends as she works for a large government organisation with quite a few staff. Yes there is a very unfortunate history with the Wiradjuri tribe around the region when martial law was declared. Moved here a couple of years ago from Muswellbrook, Mudgee is so much nicer! An Authentic Aussie Pub Real estate prices are high because of the mines, not because it's a great town. With 130 heritage listed buildings and Australia’s oldest Opera House, it’s certainly worth the 30-minute drive where you’ll pass beautiful pastoral country properties. Some people just don't like the truth when they hear it. Best place to live in Australia. The film festival is probably too expensive for the locals, like most of the one off functions Mudgee puts on. A short drive from Mudgee is the colonial gold mining town of Gulgong. Funny how ilovemudgee is written by the local real estate who have only their hip pocket in mind just like the local council! Actually as with most events it is reasonably priced, $25 a head. This is a perfect description.
The Mount Druitt comparison is ridiculous. A few hours on the freeway to the coast and the best mountains in the country. So you are basically stuck in Mudgee because, along with the transport, its miles from anything worth spending time at. The Birdsville Cup horse race meeting, to be held 3-4 September 2021, attracts 8000 punters who drive and fly into town, often sleeping in swags under plane wings. Nothing to do, nowhere to go. Mud we actually love where we live and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Under a four hour drive from Sydney it is a favourite long weekend haunt for people looking to get away from the city without the crowds of the coastal regions. I moved here to live in the bush and that's the only good thing I can say about the place. Wait 3 weeks. I don't shop here purely on principle, except for groceries. I remember riding my bike around these streets & playing on the swings in the rocket park and all I can say is MUDGEE I CANT WAIT TO COME BACK.
