We learnt nothing about Mr Gold in the end, he was a bizarrely mysterious villain, with no backstory to explain his ‘evil plan’. Nothing made me recoil or shocked me.

Savage Island has two settings: the ordinary world at home, which is revealed in the Prologue and through flashbacks, and the island itself. I am not one of those people and I cannot recommend this book sadly. At first this started pretty slow which made it hard for me to get into this. The story was good lots of action.

After opening the pages of Bryony Pearce’s young adult horror novel SAVAGE ISLAND, I knew that this million pound prize contest would be more than what it initially seemed. It just felt rather undeveloped. I wish there was more romance between the characters for example I didn't even realise will liked carmen like that, but I guess his subtleness parallels his "psycho" nature but come on Lizzie and Ben - dash in a bit more chemistry so the ending actually causes me to cry (which I didn't btw). I loved the ending and I'm so shocked at myself for not guessing it, thing is tho I did think that perhaps this person could be psycho but I changed my mind as soon as I thought that due to how pathetic they are. Being familiar with horror, it was easy to see how the story would unfold but, nevertheless, I found it nail-biting to be confronted with these intense instances and choices that the teens face during the competition.
