In 1953 a new playwright, Robert Anderson, stepped into the Broadway limelight with Tea and Sympathy, a play about a lonely, misunderstood boarding school student.It didn't hurt that it was astutely directed by Elia Kazan and that the relationship of the boy and the sympathetic wife of one of his teachers was poignantly and vividly acted by Deborah Kerr and John Kerr. | Rotten (2).
